Spring Driving, Dealing With Potholes
In Pennsylvania, Springtime brings sunshine, flowers, warmer weather and…potholes. The repeated freeze-thaw cycle of moisture seeps through the road surfaces causing potholes. Potholes are nothing new to us in Pennsylvania, but hopefully these tips from Weather.com will help prevent damage to your vehicle while you’re driving this spring.
- When you hit a pothole, it can throw your car out of alignment. If your car is pulling while you are driving, it is a sign that there is a misalignment.
- Make sure you keep your tires properly inflated, this will help reduce damage from potholes.
- If you cannot avoid a pothole, do not break during impact, it will cause more damage. Apply the brakes before hitting the pothole and release them just before impact.
- To avoid losing control when driving over a pothole, hold the steering wheel firmly.
- Always use caution when driving over a puddle of water, because it could be a massive pothole that could cause sever damage.
Please use caution while driving this Spring, especially in Southwest Pennsylvania. Some sources believe it is one of the worst years for potholes.
